20 hours later
Written by julio on September 13th, 2009My helper and I put in a combined 20 hours yesterday, and I finished the body color on two of the dormers. He primarily focused on the rafters and ceiling on the right side of the porch, as well as the foyer window. We got just enough done that we were able to move the scaffold to the next section of the house! He is going to show up a few morning this week to paint the next set of windows, as well as finish up the eaves and rafter tails above.

Wow, so much work but looks terrific! I wonder how long the paint job will last. I’m already having to repaint part of our porch and it seems like just yesterday we stripped and painted it (it was more like 7 years ago but the paint had a 20-year guarantee.)Did you make up your own plans for the scaffolding or buy plans? I don’t know how we are going to reach our rafters on our 2 1/2-story house.

Hey, no discouraging words about the paint durability until after we finish, OK??
We are optimistic that our paint will last, but only time will tell. I designed the scaffolding myself, but I only needed a platform that can vary between 6 and 9′ high. I would probably break down and rent for 2.5 stories, because the steel scaffolds can be built up and torn down much more easily than wood.
