Nearly-done family room

This was the status as of last night. All the trim is finished, stained and polyurethaned. We picked up our couch yesterday, and I am nearly done with the TV wiring. A trip this weekend will keep me away from it until next week, but we could be watching movies in here within about a week! And we are just two doors away from being 100% finished with this room. I had to use a really wide angle lens to get the shots, so don’t be fooled into thinking the room is bigger than it is. It’s only about 11×12′ in reality.

Playroom Progress!

As regular visitors to our site know, our daughters’ playroom has been an ongoing project. Prior to moving in to our house, we gutted the entire second story to the studs. And then we ignored it for about two years. Since then progress has been slow, but steady. The second story is now home to Chloe’s room, Ginger’s room, a small half bathroom, and the above-mentioned playroom.

Over the past few weeks, the playroom has seen the addition of some new accessories (framed artwork, new lamps, new pillows) and some handy new storage benches. It’s still not “finished, but it’s getting closer every day.

So, without further ado, here are some updated photos of the playroom:

Earlier this year, we blogged repeatedly about about our upstairs remodel. Post after post detailed our frantic race to get Chloe’s new bedroom and playroom habitable prior to her little sister’s birth. Then Baby Ginger arrived and we got so distracted that we never mentioned our upstairs again. Pretty inconsiderate of us, huh?

For those of you who have been curious about how it all turned out, below are a few photos of the new playroom. The space isn’t quite finished yet – we have still have some trim work to complete, doors to stain, shelves to install, pictures to hang, etc. But the space is far enough along that Chloe has been able to enjoy it for a couple of months now.

We were able to stay under budget on this project since we pretty much moved everything from Chloe’s old room into this room. The only new additions are the curtains and tablecloth (my first sewing project ever), the big pink beanbag chair (thanks Grandma!) and the new white bookshelf (thanks IKEA!)

We’ll post photos of Chloe’s new bedroom and bathroom soon.
